Background

Lisa Payne and I decided to walk the Camino di Santiago di Compostela this September. It's been great fun planning the trip and preparing for it (long 11,12, & 13 mile walks), researching blister packs, hydration, quick dry clothing, good podcasts, and tasty protein bars.
I'm in the San Jose airport lounge right now waiting to board. My route involves some flying, a train ride, and then a car ride. I'm flying in to Madrid and staying the night of Sep 9.  Then on the morning of the 10th I take a four hour train ride to Pamplona. Then Lisa and our local Caminando driver meet me and we drive to Roncesvalles, where we spend the night and start our walk on the morning of 9/11! Traditionally, the walk starts from St. Jean Pied de Port in the French Pyrenees. The first leg is from there to Roncesvalles. I decided I wanted an easier start without extreme climbs and extreme weather and opted to start at Roncesvalles. We walk to Zubiri on day 1, which is a walk of 14.75 miles. I'll update you all on a daily basis with some pics hopefully. Thank you all for all your love, support, and faith in our ability to finish this walk successfully. Adios and see you in Roncesvalles!
